On 14 August 2026, the Australian National Contact Point for Responsible Business Conduct (AusNCP) published a statement confirming it has accepted a complaint from Maurice Blackburn Lawyers and Macquarie University’s Business & Human Rights Access to Justice Lab.
The complaint concerns South32 Limited, a globally diversified mining and metals company.
An AusNCP Independent Examiner accepted the complaint after finding that it met the six Initial Assessment criteria set out in the AusNCP complaint procedures. You can read the Independent Examiner’s full statement at AusNCP Complaint 41.
The AusNCP’s acceptance of this complaint does not mean that the actions of South32 Limited are inconsistent with the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct.
