What's happening in government

A high-performing National Contact Point is not the only way that the Australian Government is promoting responsible business conduct. There are other relevant policies and initiatives being delivered across government websites.

Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation

Information on Australia’s main national environmental legislation, including the benefits of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) and what is protected under it.

The EPBC Act was amended in December 2025 to implement the core recommendations of the October 2020 Independent Review of the EPBC Act – Final Report, prepared by Professor Graeme Samuel AC.

Responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Australia’s Guidance for AI Adoption sets out essential practices for responsible AI governance and adoption. It provides practical guidance to assist businesses in innovating with AI safely and responsibly.

The guidance includes two versions for:

  • organisations that are new to AI adoption or governance
  • or those with more mature governance structures, technical development capabilities, or higher risk AI use cases.

Both versions are based on domestic and international ethics principles.

Visit the Department of Industry, Science and Resources website for Guidance for AI Adoption

In addition, under the Australian Government’s policy for the responsible use of AI in government, agencies must publish a statement outlining their approach to AI adoption.

Visit digital.gov.au for more information about this requirement, and the Treasury website to read Treasury’s AI transparency statement

Modern slavery in Australia

Authoritative, factual information on modern slavery in Australia, including how to get help and how to support someone else. It provides information for people interested in understanding Australia’s modern slavery laws and policies. It also contains useful guidance, training and resources.

You can also find information about recent public consultations on the Modern Slavery Act 2018.

National Anti-Scam Centre

The National Anti-Scam Centre is run by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), bringing together experts and data from government, law enforcement and the private sector to disrupt scams before they reach consumers. The National Anti-Scam Centre runs the Scamwatch service, which provides up-to-date information to help consumers recognise, avoid and report scams.

In February 2025, the Parliament also legislated the Scams Prevention Framework – a key pillar of the Government’s response to the rising threat of scams. The ACCC has been preparing incrementally for the framework, and once implemented, will have formal monitoring, scam intelligence sharing and enforcement powers under the framework.

Visit the National Anti-Scam Centre and Scamwatch websites.

Sustainable finance

Outlines the policy priorities of the Government’s Sustainable Finance Roadmap. These policies support Australia’s pathway to net zero and provide a framework for reducing barriers to investment into sustainable activities. Some policies in the Roadmap also support responsible business conduct by promoting transparency and the integration of sustainability considerations into corporate decision-making.
